The Rochester Area TriathleteS (RATS) is a non-profit group of athletes offering information, support, workouts, races, clinics, picnics, and parties to the local multi-sport enthusiast. The club started out some 10 years ago as a small group of dedicated Triathletes training for the only local race, the Hamlin Beach Triathlon. Since that humble beginning, the RATS have grown to over 200 active members dedicated to a healthy lifestyle and friendly competition in triathlons and duathlons. As the club grew with the sport over the years, the members traveled, trained, and raced together. Some of the group have achieved national and international acclaim for their achievements in tri's an du's. Today the RATS consist of a diverse mix of amateur competitors, participants, and supporters. Despite the diversity, the senior members of the club still find time to counsel and address the concerns of the newcomers to the sport, be it at informal conversations or at organized clinics. As participants, most RATS enjoy the sense of accomplishments that comes with completing a triathlon or duathlon. The majority of RATS will tell you that the strength of the club is the close-knit atmosphere that binds all the members together. RATS volunteers and supporters are the envy of every other club taking proactive measures to ensure the success of the many activities. Throughout the year the RATS holds social and athletic functions applicable to all ages and skill levels. As a member you will receive numerous discounts at local and national retailers for triathlon related products. If you are thinking about doing a triathlon or duathlon, already and active participant, or just want to chip-in and help the club, RATS is the group for you. Remember, you never know until you 'tri!
